Castellana Caves

The Castellana Caves are 1.5 km long, but the longest itinerary is 3 km long. The natural entrance consists of an enormous open-air chasm, about sixty meters deep, called the Grave. The entire route winds through a series of caves, covered by stalactite and stalagmitic concretions, and tunnels. The most famous is the Desert Corridor, also known as the Grand Canyon underground, recognizable for its reddish color due to the presence of ferrous minerals.
