Capri has been a popular resort visited by tourists since the times of the Roman Republic and indeed there are many ruins of the Imperial Roman villas there, and it’s not hard to see why. Capri is a stunning island just off the Sorrentine peninsula famous for it’s tourquoise water and a popular retreat for day visitors who make use of the ferry or hydrofoil that serves the island from Naples, Sorrento, Positano or Amalfi. Popular features of Capri include the Marina Piccola (small marina), Marina Grande (large marina), the Blue Grotto, the town of Anacapri and of course the ruins of the Roman Villas to name a few.

Our tour guide was Simone and it is no exaggeration to say he took very good care of us.    The response to every request was “of course”.     It was a memorable trip with an itinerary that allowed us to see and appreciate many regions of beautiful Italy.   So many highlights, it’s hard to know where to start.    Cinqueterre, Borghetto, the Dolomites, I could go on.    Educational too with a tour of a Parmesan cheese factory and balsamic vinegar farm.    I loved the trip and would highly recommend this tour company.   This was my second tour with Great Tours of italy and I hope to travel with them again. The two tour guides, one being Sicilian, were professional, extremely knowledgeable, accommodating and very personable :). Our days were full with much to explore of  beautiful Sicily along with some personal time to ourselves. The hotels were 4 star and the food at the restaurants was exceptional. HOWEVER, I am confident we could not have had a better experience than the one we had with Great Tours of Italy. They took care of all the stressful details so we could relax and enjoy our adventure.
We saw all of the "big" attractions you'd want to see on a 9-day excursion through multiple cities. But what made our trip so valuable and worth it were the countless 'little' things that turned out to be the best memories we carried home with us.
Our favorite stories about our trip are from the off-the-beaten-path stops and charming neighborhood spots we got to experience, solely because of the personal relationships our tour guides had with those local establishments.
Simone and Jamie tailored our trip to our needs and desires (whether dietary or age-related, interest-based or otherwise) and made sure we had the *most* fun along the way. GTI balanced a combination of ancient history and modern culture as we were immersed in a week of learning, shopping, eating, and exploring so many facets of the country and culture of Italy. We had an amazing time with Great Tours of Italy on our 14 day Bella Italia tour! We had arranged a private customized tour with 8 of our friends who enjoyed it as well. Just returned from my second Great Tours of Italy trip, this time to Northern Italy. It was excellent! Known for food and wine, not to mention views, Italy did not disappoint but it was the wonderfully paced and curated tour that made it special. Our Trip with Great Tours of Italy was one of a kind. When I returned home and friends asked how was Italy, I found myself responding that not only is it a beautiful country but I believe it was the Great Tours of Italy that made it a trip like I have never experienced before. We did the Pearls of Italy trip and at times when you do these types of trips you come back needing a vacation from a vacation but Great Tours of Italy took care of everything for us- the travel, food, lodging, tours, tour guides and making sure we had some relaxation time scheduled. There was no planning needed by us and this tour also gave us flexibility for those that needed a little more time to shop 👛 or relax and have a glass of wine! 🍷 No rushing to keep a tight schedule.
