Bologna

Bologna is the capital of Emilia-Romagna region, in Northern Italy. The city still preserves a medieval look, characterized by the leaning Asinelli and Garisenda towers in the city centre and many other medieval palaces, like the town hall and Palazzo Bevilacqua, that has one of the most magnificent inner courtyard in all Bologna. The city is mostly famous for its university, considered to be the oldest in the Western world. Nowadays the city is also a point of connection between the south and the north of Italy. Although still an important agricultural market and food-processing centre, Bologna also has developed into an important industrial centre; its chief manufactures include agricultural machinery, electric motors, motorcycles, railway equipment, chemicals, and shoes.
