What is and isn't included in the price shown online for my trip?
The price you see on the Great Tour of Italy website is per person based on two guests sharing a room.
What's included in this price:
- All hotel, tips, charges and local taxes
- Breakfast daily
- Authentic local food everyday
- All porterage and restaurant gratuities
- Professional tour guide
- Transportation as described in your itinerary
- Sightseeing and activities as described in your itinerary
- Airport transfers as described in your itinerary
What isn't included in this price:
- Flights.
- Extra hotel nights for before and after your trip. These can be added during the booking process.
- No guaranteed experiences (weather condition) can be booked and paid for during your trip.
- Travel insurance.
Can I book extra hotel nights before or after my trip?
Yes, you can book extra hotel nights. Many guests like to give themselves a little more time in a destination before or after their trip.
Additional hotel nights can be added to your booking during the online booking process or you can contact us.
If you have booked through a travel agent, please reach out to them and they will add the extra nights to your reservation.
Please note: All hotels are subject to availability.
What is the difference between visit, view and see in the itineraries?
- Visit – You’ll get to visit a specific site
- View – A brief stop and an opportunity to take photos
- See – Pass by the site so that you can see it
- (WLG) – With a local guide and wireless headsets
- Sightseeing tour – Your tour guide will accompany you on a tour of a city or site
- Orientation tour – Places of interest are pointed out, allowing you to go and explore them on your own
- Time to explore, discover or relax – Free time on your own
Is airfare included on Great Tours of Italy’s tours?
On a G.T.I. journey’s price the airfare is not included. When you book your airfare please make sure that your arrival and departure date and time, fit together with our free airport transfers.
I can’t locate the region that I’m interested in traveling to. What should I do?
If you cannot find the region that you are interested in, contact us we will answer your questions, provide advice and take care of your reservation.
How much are your deposits and when is full payment due?
Our deposit amounts and full payment due dates are as follows:
USD 400 Deposit, full payment due 45 days before departure
All payment dates and amounts are also on your invoice. Please note, deposit and full payment terms may vary for special offers.

Before you travel
Do I need travel insurance?
Check you credit card travel insurance policy or contact your insurance agency. We highly recommend guests purchase travel insurance prior to your trip. Your insurance should cover trip interruption, personal injury, medical expenses, and evacuation and repatriation cover including during pandemic events.
How much luggage can I bring with me?
On all our escorted tours it is restricted to one large suitcase and one small personal bag/backpack per person. Suitcase with dimensions not exceeding 30x19x10”(76x45x25 cm) and a maximum weight of 50 lb. (23 kg). Driver will help you with the luggage.

What does the tour price include?
The prices listed in our brochure and website "Escorted Tours" cover just about everything on the land tour! Virtually every travel expense is included in one up-front price – airport transfers, all hotel and accommodations, entertainment, meals as specified in the itinerary, special dinner, land and cruise transportation, sightseeing, shore excursions, luggage handling, most taxes, services of local guides and more as specified in the itinerary. All appropriate gratuities for luggage handling, bellmen, doormen, dining room servers, ship staff and local drivers are also included. Over $250 cost components are included on every tour, which means no hidden costs, no surcharges, no on-tour surprises!
How long will we spend on the coach?
How much coach travel there is depends on the itinerary but we rarely spend longer than a couple of hours on the coach without a photo stop or visit.
Do coaches operate seat rotation?
To ensure fairness and to enhance your coach experience Great Tours of Italy practices a daily seat rotation system, which your Travel Director will facilitate. This enables guests to enjoy the panoramic views from a different seat and provides opportunities to get to know your fellow travelers and make new friends each day.
Is the coach modern and comfortable?
We pride ourselves on having the finest fleet of fuel-efficient, fully air-conditioned coaches – all with reclining seats. All our coaches boast one of the newest and diverse fleets. We currently operate vehicles with various features. All buses come standard with:
- Heating, Ventilating and Air Conditioning Systems
- Extra legroom – Footrests
- Undercarriage Storage Compartment
What can I bring on the coach with me?
In addition to your suitcase, which gets stored separately on the coach, you can bring one personal bag onto the coach with you. This must be small enough to either fit under your seat or in a small overhead compartment. The specific dimensions: 12"x11"x6" (30x28x14 cm)
Please note that for safety reasons, small rolling suitcases are not permitted inside the coach.
There are a number of things you may wish to bring on the coach with you, including a travel pillow, something to read, sunglasses, your phone, headphones if you'd like to listen to music, etc.

How many people will be on tour with me?
Great Tours of Italy groups are small … we accommodate max 20 guests on our escorted tours. Enjoy a more personalized service, by being in a smaller group, closer to your local guide for a more in-depth experience, spending less time waiting to get into sights, faster check-in into hotels, easier get in – get off from the motor coach.
Are meals included on the Escorted Tours?
At least two meals per day are included on Great Tours of Italy. A buffet breakfast (American breakfast) including eggs (fried or poached), sliced bacon or sausages, sliced bread or toast with jam/jelly/butter, cornflakes or other cereal, coffee/tea, orange/grapefruit juice, fresh fruits, cappuccino and espresso. Lunch or dinner (meat or fish) with appetizer, pasta or soup, second dish, salad, mineral water, 1/4 fine local wine, dessert/gelato/fruit. Our selected restaurants will certainly be unforgettable! Dining is a delightful and integral part of the G.T.I. experience – we select local restaurants that offer a true taste of each region you visit.
What if I have any special dietary requirements?
We can accommodate vegetarian guests and can assist with diabetic, gluten-free and other medically-recommended diets. Please advise us at the time of booking.
Unfortunately, we’re unable to supply meals in accordance with strict religious requirements. We can’t provide salt-free, Kosher, Halal, requests for specific dietary supplements such as soya milk, and high protein or low-carb meals.
I want to see all the main sights, but will I have time to explore on my own?
Absolutely. At G.T.I. planning the perfect tour is our specialty. Not only do we include the ‘must see’ sights, we carefully balance our itineraries to give you plenty of free time to relax and immerse yourself in the location. We want to ensure you get all you want out of your trip. Each itinerary offers the perfect balance of downtime and discoveries. Some of our trips offer a more relaxed pace, with later starts and longer stays in each place.
If you would like to exclude yourself from an included experience please ensure you speak with your Travel Director, so they are aware of your plans. They will make sure you are aware of any necessary times or meeting points. Please note we cannot provide any compensation or refunds, if you decide to not take part in an included activity or meal.
How much walking is involved in your trips?
Our itineraries are a well-balanced mix of walking and enjoying sites from the comfort of your coach.
The activity level and amount of walking can vary, so it is important that you bring adequate footwear to ensure your comfort and safety.
When walking there can be some uneven terrain, or times when more walking is required than others.
How much time we spend in the coach?
How much coach travel there is depends on the itinerary but we rarely spend longer than a couple of hours on the coach without a photo stop or visit. Some journeys are much shorter.
After your tour
How can I add a review of my experience?
Once you have returned home from your Great Tours of Italy, you will receive an email from us, with a link to collect guest reviews. If you follow the link in this email, you will be able to leave a review of your experience.
